Not much is mentioned about the Exchange Bank. It is known to have become the National Exchange Bank of Pittsburgh. Which became Mellon Bank, which is still located in Pittsburgh, PA.  This is an $2 note from 1832

The Bank had $1,800,000 in Assets at the time. The bank was located in Norfolk, Virginia. The Excahnge Bank of Virginia was a state controlled bank which is a banking system made up of several large commercial banks and their branch offices, partly owned by the Commonwealth, were the principal source of locally issued bank notes.
