When the Confederacy issued savings bonds they ahd these coupons attached. When the redemption date on the coupon arrived
you could cash in the coupon for your interest payment.

The Confederate Postal Office was the only department of either goverment to
show an profit in the entire civil war. It was required to do so by law, and was driven by John H. Regan. Profits for the
postal office were achieved by doubling the postal rate, and then again having the rate doubled. As well Federal Stamps were
used during the first few months. Postal Stamps we as well used as an fractional currency. John Regan was as well able to
make sharp deals with railroads, and allowing draft immunity to mail contractors. The prewar rate for an .5 ounce letter was
3 cents, In July 1862 the rate was moved to 10 cents making the office self-sustaining.

for interest Jackson 1864, and Augusta 1865. Note was isseud at Montgomery , Ala the 12th November 1862
